Senior citizens too want what is due to them.
Dear Friend,
At this time federal government negotiations are in progress which are crucial for Flanders.
It is imporant that the Flemish negotiators stand their legally founded ground.
You too can help them by, among other things, making positive use of the modern means of communication.
Therefore, please send the message below to your friends, announce it on Facebook,
…
Thank you very much,
Flemish active senior citizens (non profit charity),
Roger Van Ranst,
General President.
Below is the message.
26TH OF MAY 2003: The Belgian Constitutional Court states that a difference in treatment of the electoral region of BHV and the other Belgian electoral regions is not justified. It further states that the Belgan law maker must make good the non-constitutional status.
2004: All Flemish political parties have included the demand for the split of the electoral region of BHV in their programmes. This point is also included in the Flemish governmental treaty as an engagement.
The ‘Flemish active senior citizens charity’ states that:
- The Flemish negotiators must now fulfill their engagement of 2004 without any further concessions
- The capital city of a country must respect the language and culture of 60% of the population of this country
- Immigrants in a linguistic region must adapt to that region and its language.

Notice:
VLAANDEREN-FLANDERS IS BACK.
After having gone through lots of frustration and disappointment, and after getting lots of encouraging messages and requests from regular visitors, I have decided to pick up where I left off.
I feel I would be neglecting my duties and I would be letting my people down if I did not go on fighting for them.
I have a bit of a backlog to deal with now, and since I recently went through a server migration, I also have to make some changes to my internal programming, but we will be fighting again in a few days time.
Mor about all that has happened will also appear in the next newsletter, which is due to appear in the next few days.
PS. The protest messages have been passed on to the CD&V powers that be, however, if you feel the need to go on scolding them for their betrayal, please do so, so I can keep bombarding them.
Keep strong,
Frankie.

N-VA: outrageous hypocrisy regarding naturalisations.
Here is a remnder, as we often see Theo Francken and Sarah Smeyers (both N-VA) in debates, interpellations and proposals about making migration stricter lately.
Judge for yourelf:
For some time, N-VA have been pleading, especially through Sarah Smeyers, for stricter laws on nationality. The plea by Mrs. Smeyers, however, shows nothing but an outrageous hypocrisy: three yeears ago she gave her full support to Leterme I in the Chamber, a government which had written the principle of a new collective regularisation of illegal immigrants into their legislation's agreement. As we have learned from the first regularisation campaign under Verhofstadt, the vast majority of regularised immigrants hand in a naturalisation claim later. By supporting the regularisation principle in March 2008, N-VA also took care of the 'nouveaux Belges' of tomorrow. Besides, N-VA agreed in the commission for Naturalisations to process no less than 4,454 naturalisation cases, without any mention of making anything any stricter at all.
Even worse is that, since 2001, no less than 30,685 naturalisations were approved in the Chamber by the party of Geert Bourgeois and Bart De Wever. The fact that N-VA now put themselves forward as protagonists of a stricter immigration processing, is nothing but outrageous.
And more:
At a press conference, MPs Filip De Man, Hagen Goyvaerts, Rita De Bont and Bert Schoofs illustrated the different migration cases in Parliament. As most of us know, the recent 'good news show', which claims the immigration laws have been made drastically stricter is nothing but a manipulation of the public opinion.
Regarding the family reunions, there have been proposals on the table for many weeks, which, if they do get approval, only refer to 10 per cent of the total amount of family reunions. The traditional parties make this look like a substantial strictening, but that is nothing less that cheating the voters. In the same place we can put the claims by N-VA as if the 'Fast Belgian'-law were abolished. Our party calculated that the adjusted criteria are valid for a maximum of a quarter of al nationality claims. Besides, knowledge of the language is till not obligatory. A candidate-Belgian only has to promise an 'effort' to learn the language of his place of residence. The Francophone parties have already announced they will not take the condition of the language of the place of residence into consideration.

When will the public open their eyes?
N-VA shrug BHV off
In the Home Secretary Chamber Commission, Vlaams Belang asked yesterday, regarding the regulation of the activities of the commission, the urgent processing of the separation proposals of Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde.
The processing of the separation proposals, however, was voted out. It struck that N-VA took the lead in this. Siegfried Bracke made sure that, with a proposal of his own, dozens of other proposals received priority and the BHV-proposals ended up at the bottom of the pile. Hoping for even a discussion of those can now certainly be put away for the first number of years.
"It is obvious that N-VA are still in "negotiating mode", also about a case such as BHV which is so very important to Flemish-Brabant and the future of Flanders", claimed Chamber fraction leader Gerolf Annemans, who re-iterated that for Vlaams Belang only a separation without any price is acceptable and no negotiations should take place about this case and certainly no concessions must be done.

True colours.
The Francophone parties have been demanding for years that Belgium would sign an international treaty for the rights of minorities. After that, they wish to put the Francophones in Flanders forward as a 'minority', and they hope, in doing so, to further undermine the linguistic law and to demand all sorts of special rights for Francophones who live in the Brussels border and elsewhere in Flanders.
of course, the Flemings have always opposed that demand, with full support by the Flemish Movement. Except during the December meeting of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, where they voted about a report 'Gal' which concerns the actual situation of the human rights, but which also pleads for the signing of this treaty by all the member states (paragraph 44). It is incredible but true: N-VA have approved that text in the European Parliament.
Frieda Brepoels (N-VA) was not the only Flemish MEP who voted for the report-Gal. Vlaams Belang was the only Flemish party to vote against; Derk Jan Eppink (LDD) abstained, and all others voted in favour. Sad.
Regarding N-VA, it strikes they approve all sorts of things in Strasbourg (such as the visa exemption for Albanese, Kosovans and Bosnians recently) only to oppose them in Brussels with lots of noise in the media. The aim of that is clear: let Flemish voters swallow the lie they are 'right-wing', but far away from the cameras in Strasbourg approve all political-correct nonsense, together with their left-wing Green fraction fellows...

Do they fear new elections after all?
N-VA wants checks at the borders again
That says a headline in Het Laatste Nieuws.
Would it be possible we will have to vote again soon? Lately everyone begins to follow (allbeit in a "very light" version) the things Vlaams Belang have cried in the desert for years.
First there was the CD&V Justice minister who announced a very thin amendment regarding sending criminal Moroccons back to their country to do their time (of course, all technical loopholes have been "forgotten"), and now, N-VA utter this demand.
Demonisation
Vlaams Belang however, who have been demanding such measures for many years, have been subjected to a witch hunt, demonised and excluded, based on those demands.
This demonisation is still continued by the other "Flemish-nationalist" Bart De Wever, who keeps announcing with a hypocritical expression on his face "I am against the embargo", nevertheless he helps to uphold it.
Would something be brewing, and do they fear that, especially after the riots in Hofstade two days ago, Vlaams Belang might win a lot back?
Furthermore, another signal: today the prohibition on wearing burcas was passed in the Chamber.
As was to be expected there was some opposition (one no and two abstentions) from the green parties (Dutch speakers and francophones), but it looks like the writing is on the wall as the motion was passed almost unanimously.
We are waiting.

An announcement.
As you probably know we do our best to offer you as many fun services as possible.
Which is why I am now, with the much appreciated help of my good lady, extending the range of e-cards.
As this occasion is the nearest in time, I am first working on Mother's Day cards, but quite some categories will be added: father's Day, wedding, jubilee, sympathy, birth, first communion, confirmation (former holy communion) and maybe more.
The existing categories will also be extended with new cards.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for new categories, please let us know.
As you well know, we do our best for you.
Thank you,
The webmaster.

Nice to be a leftie? A disgrace!!!
With thanks to friend Hupoar for sending me the article about the deeds of that left-wing scum.
The umpteenth leftie terror action

On April 25, the town centre of Ghent was stuck full with posters calling to boycott so-called nazi-pubs. Organise self-defence and sabotage, was the subtitle. What those words entail became clear the next day. The owner of the student pub Canard Bizar found his car destroyed, the windows of tavern ´t Vosken were shattered. And we can guess what will follow. The reason why those places are branded as so-called ´nazi-pubs´ is unknown to anyone... Because Flemish-nationalist students sometimes have a drink there and enjoy their student life there? In that case we can tell the scum that are responsible that the students of KVHV also use the following pubs to have their evening beer: Salamander, Twieoo, den Turk, Defoo, Coulissen, Blue, Porter House, Spijker, Patrick Foleys, Twin Towers, Velootje, Parlement, Artevelde café, Kofschip, Maeght van Gent, Trollekelder, Culture Club, Decadence, Charlatan, Kraaienest, Molotov, Tam-Tam, Delirium, Salto, Point Final, Vagant, P-nuts, Petrus, Bristol, Monopole, de Kroon, Pallieter, Etage, Lime, and above all Gentlemen´s club de Gekko. From time to time we also enjoy the ethnocentric food in rib restaurant Amadeus or a delicious intercultural pita in snack Tosi.
The Katholiek Vlaams Hoogstudenten Verbond (KVHV) learns about these leftie acts of terror with disgust, the umpteenth in a row. The academic authorities have gone through lots of measures to guarsntee freedom of speech the past few years. Democracy and science cannot exist without a free debate. While the left-wing terror used to manifest itself within the walls UGent in the past, it has now moved on. The UGent can, however, not be blind to that evolution. The democratic left-wing can no longer turn a blind eye while anarchists terrorise students. The KVHV, recognised body in the PFK, will bring forward a motion in the Political and Philosophic Convention in which we appeal to all other recognised bodies to openly shame and judge this deed of totalitarian aggression. Those terror deeds have no place in or outside the UGent. Should this seem to be an initiative of a recognised body, eg. the Anarchistisch Kollektief, or by students of the UGent, we appeal to the academic authorities to take the necessary steps to clearly show that such actions have no place in our academic community.

TAK's Easter message
According to a survey, done by the Brussels hate paper La Gazette des Milles Colinnes, there is a diminishment of francophones visiting the Flemish coast "thanks to" the politicale turbulences of the last few months.
They appear to have noticed that during he first week of the Easter holiday.
We certainly hoped for some truth in that, but not so according to the touristic services at the coast.
The hate paper even devotes five articles to the subject (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), five articles in two days time (French only). Of course including the recent storm in a teacup regarding the VIPs at the Western coast. Some stirring by the Parish newsletter for all we care. Zelfs het even the freshly brewn monster Fédération Wallo-Brux makes itself heard: the youth council of the Fédération are "choquée" (shocked), as "it will be the francophones who will be picked on" (also according to DH).
Who do you think would be most satisfied with this VIP-debacle? Not in the least those francophone retired loiterers (yes, the ones who have been loitering at the Flemish coast for some twenty years without desiring to get one word of Dutch over their lips) they come for the quietness of the coast.
In that respect, we might also state that, once the francophones begin to understand they pay taxes to Flanders in Flemish-Brabant (even though they live in "leur périphérie"), they should also take this as a Flemish provocation. Maybe they will want to leave there too?

A curse?

Is there a curse on a royal assignment?
After Johan Vande Lanotte (sp.a) had to interrupt his negotiation assignment dur to his mother's death, Wouter Beke (CD&V) now has to do the same due to his grandmother passing away.
We hereby express our sympathy to Mr. Beke.

The fossils are rising.

One could think this is an episode of the Flintstones, as 2 dinosaurs (or should we call them fossils?) are becoming active againf.
Mark Eyskens (CD&V, former PM, pictured above left) and Wilfried Martens (CD&V, former PM, pictured on the right) are going to tell us how to solve things.
According to the former, Bart De Wever (N-VA) is a demagogue who puts himself and his party in the margin, and according to the latter, the alternatives are new elections or a government with a classical tripartite, with addition of the green party. (A formula with which he has given free play to the Walloons for many years, a formula which has made him rich and which created the current situation).
The former would better think very carefully before using the word demagogy, as, just like his colleague, he understood perfectly how to be a hypocrite.
The power madness and the sick longing for personal gain by the old CVP still continues, or so it seems.
What right have those men, and their whole party for that matter, to come and lecture us? Were they not one of the main losers of the last election?
I am not that keen on N-VA myself, but, the CD&V should be grateful that De Wever does not want (or rather: dare) to co-operate with Flemish nationalists, and, like is right for a mini hypocrite, keeps the hypocrites on board, and, yes, who understands this, is he not the big winner in Flanders?
The Eyskosaur and the Martosaur would love to give free game to the PS.
In the mean time Yves Leterme (CD&V) has called the two dinosaurs to order and sent them back to the museum.
CD&V shun new elections like the plague (especially after their last defeat), and if there had been no N-VA they would not have been around the table at all.
Or does it?
Would there be something in the air that could indicate a new walk to the polling station?
Earlier this week, André Flahaut (PS) had smeared his mobile phone number all over the place to show how hard working and always available he is (see the previous videos), but also Stefaan De Clerck (CD&V, Justice minister) tries to gain popularity by taking over a Vlaams Belang point, in a watered down version, though, by a decoy that would make it possible to send criminal Moroccons back to their own country to do their time (just a big piece of theory, though).
A wounded animal can be very unpredictable.
19/04/2011
The great announcement.
There is another film available about the promised reply by resigning PM Yves Leterme (CD&V) about his meeting with Laurent.
The film can be seen here.
Expect a lot more news tomorrow too, as a lot has happened.
The old fossils are beginning to make noises again.
You can also the newsletter in your mailbox soon.
Our apologies for the delay.
14/04/2011
Not his day.
More questions, again by Gerolf Annemans (Vlaams Belang), of course, once again, silence from N-VA, but Jan Jambon (N-VA) gets a nice scolding from Gerolf Annemans during his talk.
On this occasion, the resigning PM is questioned about the Féderation Wallonie-Bruxelles.
You can watch the clip here.
14/04/2011
What comes in return?
On our media page you can find a film, whch did of couse not appear on any of our national, nor commercial television stations.
During the general assembly in the Chamber, Yves Leterme (Resigning PM, CD&V) is being grilled about the circus around Laurent, with questions by Gerolf Annemans (Vlaams Belang), Theo Francken, Jan Jambon (N-VA) and Jean-Marie Dedecker (LDD).
At the moment, I am still looking up those "clear answers" by Leterme (without a lot of success, however).
The film, in the mean time, can be found here.
14/04/2011
Another big loss.
It just keeps happening.
One by one we keep losing our great Flemish artists.
This time, La Esterella (Born as Esther Lambrechts, pictured) passed away, aged 91.
On our media page, you can watch a clip of her greatest hit, the beautiful song "Oh Lieve Vrouwetoren", containing sights from Antwerp.
Click here to watch the film.

In the mean time...
While all the hard work is still going on (but the waiting will be rewarded handsomely), another mention of the current situation:
We can once again suspect which games are being played, as will become clear when you watch the video material, the right answers to the questions are often evaded.
All in a row:
- Laurent's allowance is hanging from a very thin thread.
- (After the debate in "De zevende dag"): Laurent does not have to fear losing his allowance.
- (After the interpellations): Laurent has accepted Leterme's terms.
We have to (to remain honest, I would not like to hear "who believes this man any longer") add that the terms are not exactly an open book, and that the questions by Memebrs of the Chamber are far from answered.
Clowns?
It seems now that Senate President Danny Pieters (N-VA) and Chamber President André Flahaut (PS)are working together in order to work out a proposal "before the summer" which has to arrange Laurent's income.
What on earth are we doing?
A court jester like Flahaut would even be capable to double the allowance without even batting an eyelid.
Then, what will Pieters do with the motion his party prepared, a motion Theo Francken (N-VA) waved around so vigorously during question time in the Chamber?
Will he now, together with Flahaut, go against the doings of his own party, or will N-VA once again blow nicely with the wind?
We will see soon enough ("before the summer", as those two gentlemen predict, might also be the beginning of October, of course).
No matter what, once the video clips are uploaded you will be able to judge much better to what extent the questions in the Chamber have contributed positively.
10/04/2011
A promise is a promise.
As was mentioned before, a big update is being prepared, and the newsletter is also being edited.
Since these jobs take up a lot of my time, I would like to ask you for just a little bit more patience.
Once again, I am proud to announce that, for the second week in a row, a Fleming won a classic bicycle race.
After Nick Nuyens last week in the Tour of Flanders, Johan Vansummeren won Paris-Roubaix today, after a solo ride of nearly 15 kilometers.
It was also nice to see that the road around the track was nicely coloured yellow and black in many places.
08/04/2011
More to come soon.
Later (as it asks for a lot of hard work) there will be video material posted about, among other things, the interpellations by Gerolf Annemans (Vlaams Belang) about the circus concerning the allowance, and about the Federation Wallonie-Bruxelles, an interpellation which is nowhere to be seen on the national nor commercial television stations.
There will also be a further piece about our resident comedian Laurent van Saksen-Coburg.
07/04/2011
Money, money, and more money.
Our "dearly beloved prince" makes the headlines again. (more about him in a further article).
Yes, him and his Very Profitable Organisation (am I saying it right?) are going to plant trees again.
After his 'pleasure trip' to Congo, against the advice of Yves Leterme, a whole upheaval started, and the tough language went all over the place again (Of course, with the CD&V hypocrites and the N-VA mini-CD&V hypocrites on top).
Once again we heard "gradually downgrade allowance, no, take allowance away, no, let us say, if he does not follow the rules, HE COULD lose his allowance".
In the debate in Terzake (VRT) some incredible sliming and flattering went on, with belgicist number 1 Herman Decroo in the lead, together with Renaat Landuyt (sp.a), Nathalie Muylle (CD&V), Theo Francken (N-VA), and, yes, François-Xavier De Donnea (MR) (of whom I, in all honesty, did not know his Dutch was so fluent, credit where credit is due).
It was, as I mentioned before, once again a nauseating display like "I completely agree with colleague...." and "As my colleague.... correctly says..." and more of that rubbish.
It was, once again, really touching to watch.
That Decroo is dribbling to get his knighthood, being a thoroughbred belgicist/royalist, we have known for a long time, but in order to save face he had to say something, so he decided to agree with the others on the fact that Laurent should have followed the advice the government gave him. De Donnea agreed too, but he did emphasise that Laurent "had not committed a mortal sin, he had only been a bit careless".
The biggest cracker, however, came from the same De Donnea, when he said, while the abolishing of the allowance was mentioned, "you can hardly expect a 50-year old to just take up a job", well, look among unemployed people, how many 50-year olds, and older, are constantly "prompted" to look for and find a job, at the risk of losing their benefit, so, why would he, who was born into the right family, have to be different?
Nathalie Muylle (CD&V), squirmed and fought wildly, and mentioned certain rules which would already be determined in the Senate "for the next legislation", and proposed to start those agreements as soon as possible, ie. during the current legislation, but it soon became clear her words really meant "to put this off endlessly again".
Hence, it bothered her that N-VA (whom CD&V would quickly embrace again in case of new elections) went further than just Laurent's income (what exactly does CD&V mean then? Allowance, yes or no?), while Decroo found N-VA's proposal populistic, which might be possible, as Theo Francken quickly weakened the N-VA motion by saying it would need lots of Parliamentary discussions yet.
Decroo was at least honest enough to say that Vlaams Belang (where were they during this broadcast, not invited again?) had made up a very clear motion leading to "ABOLISHMENT".
The one who was reasonably clear in what he said, even if it was in his usual rude and offensive manner, was the socialist (yes, you read it correctly) Renaat Landuyt, who at least stated that, either Laurent keeps his allowance, but then stays on the straight and narrow, or, if he keeps "working" like he currently does, he will have to look for an income elsewhere.
07/04/2011
Shouting back and forth.
It all started when Kris Peeters (CD&V) announced that "Brussels will never be an independent region".
We have, of course known the Christian-democrat quotes and promises for a long time, they are very easily weakened, retracted, or put into a different context.
Nevertheless, this does not alter the fact that those words made the francophones jump on their back legs:
According to "Madame NON" Joëlle Milquet (CdH) Peeters was pouring fuel on the fire, and also the other francophone parties resorted to their usual whining about "provocations" and the usual things.
Federation
The francophones have renamed their region Féderation Wallonie-Bruxelles, however, without formally informing the federal government about this, and without the existence of a concrete authorative initiative which can be cross-referenced to the Constitution.
Of course, that is not a provocation, and according to some of the "laid back Flemngs" it is nothing more than a name change, nothing more, although it is a lot more than that: they want more authorities for Brussels, a once more extended electoral region, even more than BHV and, of course, once again, the territorial issues, regarding the claiming of Flemish soil.
Questioned about the matter by Gerolf Annemans (Vlaams Belang) in the Chamber, resigning PM Yves Leterme (CD&V) said he was not taking any side in the whole matter (or what else had you expected?).
The question to the PM can also be seen in a video clip (read on).

N-VA expanded.
Lawyer Vic Van Aelst (62) is joining the N-VA list for the Antwerp council elections.
As a reminder, that gentleman has been mentioned here before, when he openly announced his disgust for Belgium on VRT.
If you wish to refresh your memory, the clip can be found here.
In that clip too, he already loudly sang Bart De Wever's praises.
He claims he has not asked for a reserved place on the list, "But if Bart asks me to be a sheriff or to take up a seat in Parliament, it will be my pleasure.", he concludes.
To be remembered, of course. I am not even going to spend any further predictions on this.
Vic Van Aelst's entry into N-VA did not stay unnoticed, more about this you can read in a different article.

They are leaving us one by one.
It is a sad time for our Flemish artists.
After we announced the death of Jef Burm the day before yesterday, singer Bob Benny has died too.
Bob Benny was born as Emile Wagemakers, he lived till 84.
On our media page, a clip has been added, palying Bob's,greatest hit, the song "Waar en wanneer" (Where and when) based on music by Johann Strauss.
You can watch the film here.
As I mentioned earlier, two weeks ago the Flemish opera singer Kurt Fleming died, aged 70.
Kurt Fleming was born as Freddy De Maegd in Liedekerke and had a great career in the artistic world.
Never has he made a secret of his love for his Flanders (one only has to look at his artist name, first Freddy Flamingo, and later Kurt Fleming.
Apart from the most difficult work (arias from the great classica such as Aida, Il Trovatore, Gli Pagliacci and more, he did not hesitate to record his Flemish Folk Songs too.
He sings a brilliant interpretation of "Mijn Vlaanderen heb ik hartelijk lief" (I love my Flanders with all my heart) by Gentiel Theodoor Antheunis and Theofiel Coopman. I am really sorry about the fact I did not manage to find a copy of that.
The day I find it I will certainly post it on our media page.
Before I forget, the film is here.
03/04/2011
A bit more patience, please.
There was indeed a lot of news today, going from a Flemish victory in our own "Ronde van Vlaanderen" (Tour of Flanders), to more hypocrisy around the princely allowance and the further provocations by the francophones.
A new newsletter is also being prepared.
However, I do not think you will have to expect much tomorrow, as tomorrow, April 4th, the webmaster is celebrating his silver jubilee (ie. married 25 jaar dus) so there will probably not be much along the line of updates. (And it was also mother's day here today).
Thank you for your understanding,
The webmaster.

Flanders mourns again.
Today actor Jef Burm, known by amon others his parts in De paradijsvogels, Boerenpsalm and Zware Jongens, died, aged 87.
It is assumed he died of a brain haemorrhage.
On our media page you can watch a film clip, see it here, the clip was sent to me by friend Hupoar, for which he has my gratitude. In the film, Jef Burm sings a hommage to Brussels, of course in the Brussels dialect.
It all sounds nice and popular, but no longer has the significance it once had. They can keep Brussels for all i care, also, from "Petit Paris" it has become "Petit Marakech" and the real "Marolien", whatever happened to them.......
Some more sad news from the showbusiness world reached me a few days ago, when I learned about the death of tenor Kurt Fleming.
I had to find out about this through the newsletter of Vlaanderen Vlagt, nothing in the national press (a bit in the regional press) about the death of this monument.
Poor Flanders, to be respected as an artist these days you have to wave belgian flags around and organise free political
correct and multicultural concerts or sing about scared white men, otherwise you just do not exist.
An hommage to Kurt Fleming is to follow soon, with some sound material.
There is also some more political news, but, given the late hour, you will get this tomorrow, after I have watched our Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders).
01/04/2011
And more tough talk
Steven Vanackere (CD&V) has, after his boss Yves Leterme changed his mind again, spoken some tough words: after the controversial Congo-trip by Prince Laurent (pictured), he wants to abolish the prince's allowance.
The proposition gets support of N-VA, Open VLD and, of course, Vlaams Belang.
The thing is, they are exactly the clique (except for the last ones in the list, who have always stuck to their principles) who, in the past, protected and even increased the royal allowances with all their might.
Or would they fear oncoming elections?
01/04/2011
We are so tough again
N-VA threaten to leave negotiations

There we go again, the chests are swelling up again, after "We shall not join a government before...", "There must be a solution by the end of April, or else....", and more of that tough talk, Geert Bourgeois (N-VA, pictured) now has the privilege to act tough.
He has appealed to PS (I wonder if he did so in Dutch or french) to join them in a "serious" state reform.
This is his "ultimatum":
"Either we go to a double agreement the coming weeks and months, with a major state reform and a big social-economic reform. If not, the others make a government without us."
(I would really love to see that).
And after his "threat" he mellows again:
The fact that the "real deadline" is coming near very quickly, does not mean that N-VA already says a final "no" to the negotiations. "In the dynamism of negotiating, everything can go very fast", Bourgeois fended for himself. A possible agreement will have to contain at least the major points of the Octopus agreement - the communitary wish list of the Flemish government.
The schooling with CD&V has definitely borne rich fruit: N-VA too, love to go hot and cold at the same time.
28/03/2011
There are still people who fight for us
Voorpost: "Only negotiate about split, nothing more"
Two hundred members of the radical Flemish action group Voorpost have demonstrated in the Francophone border town of Edingen for 'the restitution of the pieces of Flemish soil that were stolen during the previous Belgian state reforms'.
According to spokesman Bjorn Roose of Voorpost it concerns, among others, about 10 towns such as Edingen, Tubeke, Komen and Ploegsteert which were originally coloured Flemish in 1962, but which were, after the final state reform, were joined with Wallonia.
The Flemish protesters walked to the town centre where a short speech was held in front of the Town Hall.
About a hundred Francophone counterdemonstrators appeared, but they were kept at a distance by a police cordon.
Projectile
One incident occurred, a female Flemish protester had to be taken to hospital. According to spokesman Roose the lady was hit by a projectile, thrown by the Francophone counter demonstrators.
Voorpost demand that the current negotiations about a state reform only concentrate on the final split of Belgium and the formation of a free and independent Flemish Republic. "Any territorial consessions to the Francophones in in return for so called extensions of authority for Flanders and Walloni are totally out of the question. And all negotiations about the split of B-H-V must be stopped", it sounded. "About something which is, even according to the Belgian constitution, a right, we do not have to negotiate", conclude Voorpost.
Media
Once again, it strikes the media always have to colour everything so it fits their own views.
When this action was announced in Het Laatste Nieuws earlier this week, there was a mention of "the extreme Voorpost", while on the VRT news, during a very short clip, which cannot be found anymore now, the presenter mentioned "the far-right organisation Voorpost".
So, to put a stamp on certain organisations, a broadcast is possible, howvever, to talk about what really matters, ie. the goals Voorpost want to achieve, this cannot be done.
It is weird that I have never heard or read about 'left', let alone 'far-left', when groups of people with covered faces appear to cause trouble in counter protests against eg. Voorpost, KVHV, NSV and the likes.
This seems to mean that nowadays, people cannot be radical anymore (depending on what you fight for, of course) without being branded 'extreme' or 'far-right'.

And a bit more
Here is a small extension, linked to the previous articles, this time with a video clip.
The media are at their best again (no further comment needed, you will hear and see for yourself), but completely ridiculous is whn Pol Van den Driessche (CD&V) gives his vision and mentions a 'Judas' kiss'.
Sounds rich coming from a member of a party that never did anything but betray people, even their own party members, and made agreements with all and sundry and broken their word for the sake of power and positions, a party where they would sell their own mothers for power and personal gain.
However, no matter what, it seems like Filip Dewinter has already reached his goal and that Bart de Wever (the man who said he was going to slit the Vlaams Belangmonster's throat) is already fully showing his true colours.
Let us not forget that the mentalities of CD&V'ers and N-VA'ers are very similar.
The video can be found here.

Those damned media
Filip Dewinter: "I AM candidate to become mayor"

Only this morning i wrote down my suspicions, and am I once again not far off the truth?
The media are always ready and willing to bash Vlaams Belang and to put them into a negative context.
What is even worse is that they, without any hint of shame, or without uttering anything that even so much sounds like an apology, they just contradict their earlier writings.
Strategy
As I wrote in the first paragraph of my previous article, about Bart De Wever's reaction, once the day of the council elections arrives (ie. that he will probably have to show his true colours), Filip Dewinter (Vlaams Belang, pictured) now has the right strategy in his head:
he declares he wants to let "De Wever show his true colours".
Now that he is no longer the assumed mayor candidate, and now Vlaams Belang has become rather an underdog or an outsider rather than a favourite (and Dewinter keeps saying he deems his chances as good as zero), De Wever will HAVE TO choose what he wants, either accept support and/or participation in a coalition by Vlaams Belang, or choose for the left-wing and keep theembargo going, in that case, the Antwerp citizen knows where he/she stands, namely that N-VA are a regime party, best friends with Patrick Janssens (sp.a), so, another party which is part of the political establishment.
I can understand, when Dewinter says "the Antwerp citizen has to know where he/she stands beforehand".
We are waiting anxiously (although I think i already know the answer).
26/03/2011
Curious what he will do now
Dewinter wants to help De Wever become mayor

I am really curious what will happen now.
We have known for a long time that Bart De Wever (N-VA, pictured left) although he shouts from the rooftops he is against the embargo, he loves to keep the very same embargo in place and he keeps refusing to co-operate with the right wing because of personal interests. He has clearly shown, for a long time now, he prefers to work together with extremist Fleming haters (FDF), rather than working together with other Flemish nationalist parties such as Vlaams Belang, and that he refuses to follow the offers for co-operation of the latter and refuses to support any of their propositions.
d
This time, however, he has had an offer which could give him a major advantage, now is his chance to show if he will still be equally "consequent".
Filip Dewinter (Vlaams Belang, pictured right), who is leading the Vlaams Belang list in Antwerp for the last time in 2012, and feels he has no chance of becoming mayor, wants to support De Wever fully to end 70 years of left-wing rule in the city. He claims he wants to go very far to help De Wever get the position.
De Wever himself, already answered with his well known arrogance that "he does not want to improvise", and that "the request by Filip Dewinter is tactically fine, but it is not a present".
A reaction which is typical for De Wever, so I am very curious to see his reaction when the council elections get nearer and the call of certain positions will be sounding louder, except, of course, he wants to wheel and deal with his precious left-wing to be allowed to get into the mayor's seat after all while the left pulls the strings behind the scenes.
We shall wait and see.

Congratulations are in order
On Saturday, march 19, VNJ (Vlaams Nationaal Jeugdverbond Flemish National Youth Organisation) celebrated their 50th jubilee.
Of course, there was nothing in the media about that, except in 't Pallieterke and here (if it had only been the Red Youth or something similar).
Vlaanderen-Flanders wishes to congratulate this flourishing Youth Organisation, and to wish them many more celebrations (far past their centennial).
The Flemish nationalist Youth of today are the Flemish nationalists of tomorrow, after all, and in those organisations, the youth still receive decent values and knowledge(music, culture, nationalism, Flemish history).
VNJ, keep strong, and we wish you many more years.

The malevolence has now become very obvious
The blowing with all winds by, among others, N-VA has become second nature to us, after all, they are semi Christian democrats.
So, that they, together with Open VLD, turn in all directions regarding the revision of the immigration laws should not come as a surprise.
N-VA wants to make everyone forget that they supported the agreement by Leterme I, a very extended and explicit agreement about immigration laws 'for humanitarian reasons' and because of it they are also responsible for the regularisation of around 50,000 illegal immigrants and the 'attraction effect' that came with it and lured tens of thousands of asylum seekers to Belgium.
Also Open VLD now wants to put the agreement (their own government from way back when) in the bin (at least to keep up appearances), while they have an interior minister in their ranks who used to be responsible in those days for the regularisation of 10,000 illegal immigrants a year.
Malevolence
Now about the malevolence of our 'Flemish nationalists':
On the agenda there was a proposal by Vlaams Belang to scrap the bilateral employment agreements with the countries from which most immigrants come to the West.
Without abolishment or revision of those agreements, people from those countries escape stricter employment and immigration laws, thus leaving the gates of immigratieon wide open.
For N-VA, however, after running down the governing that was partly started by them, it was once again to much to ask to support the motion.
As is always the case, they once again lacked the 'political courage' to vote against, so, it became a feeble abstention, which obviously stopped the motion from being accepted.
That is the party which, according to polls will gain even more if there were new elections (which they, themselves shun like the plague), and they are also the party with the 'most popular politician' as president, the president who went and explained the Flemish cause to prime minister David Cameron in England, and the party which is, according to some people 'more credible than Vlaams Belang'.
More credible? In which sense? Just like their partners in crime, the Christian democrats, they have never done anything but blow with all winds, given the impression they are not giving in and, like other traditional parties, excluded other Flemish nationalists from going for their goals.
In other words, the future looks bleak for Flanders if they manage to make a government and get into power.

Some apologies
I would like to apologise to our faithful visitors twice:
First of all, it might be possible our subscribers to the newsletter received the newsletter a second time this morning.
If that were the case, it happened because I was checking some data in my newsletter software and accidentally clicked the 'Send' button.
Then, for my second 'crime': because of some technical, and other reasons, the updates are not coming very fast, which will change as of today, only the video material will take slightly longer, for which I apologise again.
19/03/2011
Nearly there.
We regret to have to inform you there is going to be a slightly longer delay for the next update, especially where video material is concerned.
It should not be much longer, though.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The webmaster.
14/03/2011
Just a little while longer.
The latest update is being prepared.
There is quite a bit of a backlog to get through, and there is quite some subtitling work and translations to do, hence things take a little bit longer.
Very soon the news will be on here hot off the press again.
Thank you for your understanding.
12/03/2011
Here we go.
Dear visitors,
You will undoubtedly have noticed that things have been quiet here for quite some time.
This was because of some internal and technical problems, first because of a planning of significant changes to the site, which in the end could not go through, and then because of a fault of my provider, because of which I did not have any access to my own website for a while, I could not open, nor see it, neither could I upload any files to it.
All problems have been resolved in the mean time, but it will cost me a lot of time and effort to clear the backlog.
In the mean time, the newsletter is being edited, it should reach the subscribers today, and further updates should appear today, or tomorrow at the latest.
I am glad to be able to work again, and I do, of course, apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The webmaster.
16/02/2011
And here it is.
Declaration of war?
The donkeywork is finally done, I can finally publish this article.
I wish to apologise ince again for the long wait, but, as I said before, it took days of work to process all this by myself.
It all looks like Wallonia declaring war on Flanders. One could argue:
"We cannot stigmatise a whole population due to an incident in the press?", maybe not, but,
as you will read further on, the reactions of francophones in the francophone and, yes, even the Flemish press need to be analysed thoroughly too.
(More about this later)
No matter what, no matter how anyone wants to wrap it up, "militant journalism", "bad journalism", "bad choice of words", to me (and many others with me)
it remains (once again) an open punch in the face of the Flemings, and a smear on the memory of a lady who, unfortunately cannot defend herself anymore.
Films
As mentioned before, there are some videos on our media page, all closely related to the incident.
The first one, which you can watch here, is the broadcast, as shown on RTBF, taken over by VRT.
Listen carefully in the beginning to recognise the words 'sans doute' (French for 'without a doubt', around 01:50 in the clip), and follow the subtitles.
These two words could make all the difference, as it is a clear fact they say that "Marie-Rose Morel undoubtedly uses her illness to strengthen her far-right ideas in the media.
Also, about 01:34, they CLEARLY say, without any "maybe", "possibly", "we assume", "probably", or anything similar, "But unlike Bart De Wever, Morel was xenophobic to the core".
Here, Marie-Rose Morel's person is clearly attacked (without any ground, as I have never heard her say anything which even remotely sounded racist, xenophobic or homophobic, and, not one example or piece of evidence was submitted by RTBF), and they also (although it is probably their intention to put him into
a 'far-right' corner too) give a big compliment to "the man with the handkerchief", you remember, the man who shows his unconsolable sorrow, after he referred to her as a whore in the past.
Maybe those compliments are meant to make him give in to the Walloons even more.
Further videos
There are more clips to be seen, here is the VTM news which was shown on the night of the RTBF broadcast.
It is analysed by Rik Van Cauwelaert, hardly the most neutral observer, so, he all covers it very softly.
He also goes into his usual wishful thinking again when he claims that "Marie-Rose Morel, by leaving Vlaams Belang, most probably initiated the end of the party".
So, once again, the question if there was an attack on the Flemings is evaded smartly, and Van Cauwelaert once again gets his chance
to do his favourite thing, namely, Vlaams Belang bashing.
The Bees Knees
There was also a broadcast of Terzake on VRT, in which they 'analysed' whether or not RTBF has been at fault.
The guests were (oh yes) Rik Van Cauwelaert (here obviously referred to as editor-in-chief of Knack, rather than political analyst at VTM), and
Philippe Van Parijs, Walloon university lecturer and philosopher.
VRT seem to think we are all idiots, because, first of all Van Parijs sits there rambling on (really, in some places I had to subtitle "Keeps rambling...") that what
the reporter says was translated incorrectly.
When the translator asks how he would translate it he says the term 'sans doute' (which means 'without a doubt'), is used,
which means they say 'probably, possibly' (does he not know his own mother tongue anymore to know that 'probably' in French
means 'vraisamblable' or 'probablement'?), and in the mean time, both other people sit there listening without any reaction when he claims that because of the word 'probably' ther was no real statement of facts.
Then, further, when Van Cauwelaert is asked if he shares the offence the Flemings took and if he understands the professor, he completely
ignores the first question and replies he completely understands the professor.
He then goes on about the embargo and says it has been "one big hypocricy in Flanders", he claims he can back this up with the fact that Dewinter, Annemans, and even Marie-Rose were interviewed in magazines and TV studios "ad nauseam".
He does forget to mention that, when those interviews took place, they were usually about a subject of which they thought they could use it to make Vlaams Belang look bad.
The presenter then laughs and claims that "many people will disagree when they hear those words".
He then continues, expressing his wishful thinking again, by saying that "Mrs. Morel initiated the end of Vlaams Belang".
He then goes on agreeing with Van Parijs, and repeats his same thing about "militant and bad journalism", he also thinks that the headline in
"Het Laatste Nieuws", "Walloons misuse Morel's death", is going much too far (probably much further than the RTBF broadcast, in his opinion), while the professor mentions
"ethnic thinking", and that the Flemings mention "those Walloons" (more about this "generalisation" to come later), where Van Cauwelaert once again agrees whole heartedly.
Van Cauwelaert does think that RTBF "should have done their homework better", however, and also claims that RTBF have already "CLEARLY" apologised.
Cliches
Going by what is said in the above video, and also in some other media, I have to say the following:
Whoever is interested can check Le Soir (French only), or the French part '7sur7' of "Het Laatste Nieuws", or even "Het Laatste Nieuws" itself.
There, and especially in the first two, the hate and contempt against the Flemings from the south of the country, becomes very obvious.
They are full of name-calling and hate towards Flemings in general, against Marie-Rose Morel, Vlaams Belang and its politicians, and even N-VA and Bart De Wever.
Some Walloons even visit "Het Laatste Nieuws" (often in awful Dutch) to spread their venom.
The often heard comment is of course "the Flemish collaborators", "the nazis from the north, "the dirty fascists"...,
come on, have they ever heard of Leon Degrelle and his Rex, or have they conveniently forgotten?
Even better, in francophone newspapers all of this is approved for publication by the moderators.
Our own media
As I said before, there are also Walloon reactions on the Dutch web site of "Het Laatste Nieuws", some of them bordering on 'scandalous talk', also
equal postings by belgicist/franskiljon Flemings.
A number of my publications, containing just the truth, were never published, when I referred to Rex it was published, but gone again one hour later.
Also, a Fleming writes on 7sur7 how disgusting some postings are, and he mentions the fact they seem to be allowed, he also said he copied some and tried to paste them on "Het Laatste Nieuws", but the censor there did his job.
Have the two language groups of Het Laatste Nieuws got different bosses, or what?
I am certainly finished with this newspaper.
Besides, when you look at the previous media, and especially the one of Terzake, it becomes clear that even our own media are not on our side, given how they keep minimising and excusing everything said against us.
I think the time for action has come.
A final, interesting detail: on Sunday evening (the day after the funeral), I was talking to Frank Vanhecke on the telephone.
A very emotional Frank also mentioned how scandalous he thought that broadcast was, but he ended with a sentence which made me feel very emotional myself:
"In this way, Roosje might be able to do something very significant for Flanders after her death", was what he literally said,
And yes, I think he is right.
Wishing you lots of strength, Frank
Finally
If you wish to do so, you can react to this article below, there is also a Yes/No question to ask if you agree to publication.

Sad news.
A brave woman lost her fight.

Out of respect for a deceased person, the political news will have to stay on the background.
Tonight around 7pm, Marie-Rose Morel, surrounded by her immediate family, died in the Sint-Augustinus hospital in Wilrijk.
Marie-Rose had been suffering from cancer for quite some time, and, earlier, the doctors had declared her cured of the disease.
However, last year it appeared the cancer had come back and has started spreading rapidly.
Marie-Rose fights a tough and brave fight, even until very recently, when, last month, after marrying Frank Vanhecke, she tried to get treatment in Vienna, but has become to weak for that.
She was brave as a politician, brave as a human being, fighting her disease, alongside her marital problems and the worry about the fate of her children if anything were to happen to her never took her smile away.
Marie-Rose was 38 and leaves two young sons behind.
Hereby, Vlaanderen-Flanders wants to express every sympathy to her loved ones.
Marie-Rose, rest in peace.

Birth announcement.

The N-VA leaders, together with godfather Bert Maertens and provincial councillor Kristof Pillaert (Foto ARD)
Wednesday morning, a new local division of N-VA started in Ardooie. Provincial councillor Kristof Pillaert and
MP and ‘godfather’ Bert Maertens, who is in a relationship with a woman from Ardooie, introduced the party leaders to the press.
The brand new president of the Ardooie division is Fons Lammertyn.
Fons Lammertyn is the former regional secretary of the KSA in Roeselare, former president of Noordstraat Shopping Center
vzw Roeselare, former secretary Centrumstraten, former board member of Unizo Roeselare and former secretary of Manège ’t
Oud Molenhof in Ingelmunster.
The first activity of the new division is planned on March 15. That day,
Siegfried Bracke is coming to Ardooie for an informal evening. Among other things, an information brochure will be distributed and
a website will be launched. Apart from the president, 5 more leading figures are active in the division: Liesbet De Vriese, Daan Vandamme,
Kurt Eeckhout, Marc Van Holm and Robrecht Deman. Remarkable is the name of Robrecht Deman. He happens to be the son of
Patrick Deman, president of the local CD&V since one year and also a member of the council.
Remark by the webmaster: is it possible they are immediately showing us what they do best?
Divide the cake and get their share?
05/02/2011
As was to be expected.
For once, he did not say it in Latin, but in ordinary, simple Dutch. Bart De Wever (N-VA, pictured above) uttered recently:
"Wanneer de nood het hoogst is, is redding nabij" (The darkest hour is before the dawn).
What salvation? What dawn? The salvation of what? The salvation of Belgium?
It looks like it, when one sees he helps to exclude other Flemish-nationalist parties, and then finally
gets together with the liberals (Flemish and Walloon): we already heard some nasty things from Flemish liberals,
such as Herman De Croo (OpenVLD): "I am no Flemish-nationalist, since I am not mentally disabled", and Karel De Gucht (OpenVLD)
who referred to Flemish-nationalists as "scarab beetles".
He now squirms to try and ovverride or justify things he said in the past about Didier Reynders (MR).
He also claims to be "optimistic again"
Which stance is he taking now? To quote a member of his former cartel partners: "Who believes that man any longer?".
Maingain
But things become a lot worse when you think about the fact that the Walloon liberals (MR) have a dangerous character among the members of their cartel partner (FDF),
the Fleming hater Olivier Maingain (FDF, pictured above left).
While De Wever knows very well that co-operating with MR will also put FDF at the table, that seems not to bother him at all, of course, MR/FDF cannot (contrary to Vlaams Belang)
cost him any votes directly.
Also, as predicted before, the game of "annoy the Fleming" has already started for Maingain, he has only been in the negotiations 5 minutes, and his mouth opens wide already.
He must and will take part in the debates about BHV (he claims to have been given guarantees for that by Charles Michel (MR) and he will put the extension of Brussels on the table.
It does not bother Maingain that not one Flemish party wants to accept that extension.
"When I say "no" in advance to the Flemish demands, ther will be no negotiations", says the FDF-president.
A very strong beginning, I would say.
And Bart De Wever? He stood there and watched it happen.
Submitted
I received a nice, reduced version of the facts, submitted by friend Hupoar, unfortunately, I cannot see that last thing happen, for that
political courage is required, rather than hunger for power, votes and well paid positions.
FDF-president Olivier Maingain sticks to his vows to put the extension of Brussels on the negotiating table.
Thus he says Friday (Februari 4, 2011) in the newspapers of Sud Presse in his first interview since the
nomination of resigning MR-president Didier Reynders as informer. The extension of Brussels "will end up on
the table. It is on the very top of my list of priorities".
Mister De Wever and all other Flemish parties who have been invited to the negotiations, just close the books.
This is the end. At the moment it is too cold to go and sit under a tree like in in Czecho-Slovakia, so, go to
a good Brussels cafe immediately and start negotiations about dividing Belgium.
|
Once again it is very clear: Flemish-nationalists (which are considered to poke their noses in, because of their straightforwardness) are not allowed to take part, as to
keep N-VA and CD&V safe, while a man, only elected regionally, can come in and immediately put demands on the table.
True, as Hupoar says: "pull the plug out!!!!!!", but I don't think we can expect that of Bart De Wever nor of the other "Flemish" parties.

We can vote again.
VRT-4 are letting us vote again about what should happen next.
The result so far is amazing.....though not enough yet.....keep sending this through !!!!! (Send the URL to friends and relatives).
The options are:
- Negotiate about splitting up the country
- Go on negotiating
- New elections
- An emergency government with parallel negotiations
Just let yourself go...

Salvation is nigh...
Please, do not take this heading too literally.
In the palace they have been working (or fiddling) extremely hard. After first Yves Leterme (CD&V) was given the task to compile the 2011 budget, Didier Reynders (MR, pictured), was made royal informer.
Our Albert has given him two weeks (not clear to do what, though).
Tight block
This also means that now all parties (except Vlaams Belang and LDD, of course) will be round the table.
The liberal parties have now been included too, and as MR are included, this means that their cartel partner, the Walloon racist Olivier Maingain will also poke his nose into the negotiations.
This raises the question: why Maingain and not Bruno Valkeniers (Vlaams Belang)?
Once again a real example of democracy the Belgian way.
granted, LDD did not get the electoral minimum, but Vlaams Belang are still an elected party.
And what about 'Flemish-nationalist' Bart De Wever? (The man who keeps shouting from the rooftops he is against the embargo).
Well, he is blowing with the wind again, he saw it was good and now claims they must 'give Reynders every opportunity'. they also hold out their hand to Leterme, they will assist loyally with the budget.
How much longer that incompetence, that ignoring of democracy, that holding hostage of the majority by the minority?
When will this rotten country cease to exist, how much longer will we let ourselves be lead by someone who treats our people with hostility and contempt?
My conclusion: IT HAS BEEN ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!
02/02/2011
Real world news.
The newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws wrote two world shocking articles yesterday and today:
Yesterday, they made mention of Bart De Wever's (N-VA) 'sense of humour' (I have certainly never seen him laugh, or even smile properly),
because he (see picture on the left) "had taken in the photographers of the press" when they, as they had already done in the past with
'plumber' Jean-Luc Dehaene (CD&V), attempted to get some inside information about his plans, by taking pictures of the documents that were visible on his lap.
However, all De Wever had in sight was a blank sheet of A4 paper, on which he had written the word "curieuzeneuzemosterdpot" (a nonsense word, really, that means as much as "Nosey Parker mustard jar", only referring to the press being nosey)in red
(It is a bit odd it was done in Dutch, and not in Latijn, as he usually loves to express himself in that language, don't forget, Latin used to be the language of highly educated and intellectual people).
In other words, this is certainly news which will spread like wildfire all over the globe, or not?
Due to a lack of real news regarding the progress (or lack thereof) of the negotiations the newspapers have to be filled with something,
it is of course no problem to make a mention of such occurrences, but is it really necessary to fill up half a page with them?
Equally important world news came from th palace in Laken, where Albert the last has received all the party presidents the last few days.
It has now become known that he (Albert, that is) will not take any initiative to get out of the political deadlock prior to this afternoon.
Once again, really red hot world news again, because, have they ever done anything but (Albert as well as the parties) "not taking any initiative"?
Things must really be bad if the press have to try and fill their columns with news of that calibre.

Anything goes, except...
Radical muslim school opened in Borgerhout

It has happened: In Borgerhout, the 'Dar Al-Hadieth' school has opened, a muslim school which was founded from
the infamous, extremist institution with the same name in Yemen.
They teach lessons in Arabic for Dutch speakers and religious theory.
Teachers
They employ two teacher from the Yemenite city of Dammaj. This city is, according to the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws known as one of the
largest breeding tanks of religious fanatism.
Al-Qaida
In the 'main school' in Yemen they teach the use of weapons (why?) and it is alleged there would be links with the
training camp of Al-Qaida in the nearby city of Wadi Jubarah.
Of course, the president strongly denies his school is extremist, or that they train pupils with the intention of sending them through to Yemen.
Obviously, there has not been a word of comment from the Antwerp mayor Patrick Janssens (sp.a), if only it had been
(even a proposition or application for) an initiative by Vlaams Belang to organise courses about Flemish-nationalism....
In this country anything is allowed, except being a Fleming.
31/01/2011
What a mess.
How are things now with the situation in this country?
Most probably, many people already asked the same questiom, as we keep hearing new things, however, whatever we hear
seems to be written cryptologically.
Elio Di Rupo
On the New Year's reception of his part, Elio Di Rupo (PS, perfect mirror of the Belgian flag, black (dyed) hair, yellow face, red dickie bow)
said there should be an (extended) government of national unity (whatever that may mean) put together.
That "extended" refers to the fact that, apart from N-VA, PS, CD&V, Groen!, Ecolo, sp.a and CdH, also the liberals from
both parts of the country (OpenVLD for Flanders and MR (with fascist Maingain in their coalition) for that bit in the south)
would be allowed to join the circus.
immediately after Di Rupo saying that, other parties started asking if Di Rupo had had one too many on his reception.
Bart De Wever
Bart De Wever, on the other hand, keeps on being the oracle, and goes on saying strong things, but:
- To begin with, he is not thinking about giving in.
How much has he not weakened the Flemish demands inthe beginning?
Only after the francophones keep saying "NON" to his proposals he thinks it has been enough.
- He wants to discretely test one of his own initiatives.
He will see the king for afternoon coffee, and there he will explain matters (please, do not take this too seriously). Besides, day after day we hear a lot of clap trap about propositions and possible solutions,
but never, ever is a word said about what exactly those are. May we know them too, please?
- He thinks the protest rally has had an opposite effect.
The same again here, De Wever once again wants to take an initiative to get everything out of the deadlock, he has got certain ideas left to get everything moving again, he will work out "those ideas" together with Di Rupo.
(Once again, "which ideas"?)
What does eem to contain some elements of truth is what he said about the "opposite effect", because of the fact there were four times more francophones than there were Flemings
taking part, and because Joëlle Milquet (CdH)
(although she only knows one word, "NON") and Ecolo too, were concentrating on the protest so much that they were
neglecting the negotiations (as if they work themselves to death there, merely shout "NON" now and then).
Now another few words about the illustrious protest:
At this time, CD&V are keeping a low profile, they appear to go with N-VA 100% and they (or at least they make it look like that) like
N-VA (who also make it look good) do not budge an inch.
There are even people who are blind enough to see CD&V as "a striaghtforward party" again (as you can see soemtimes in readers' comments
to newspaper articles).
By now, everyone should know very well that CD&V was NEVER a straightforward or honest party, and they are not now, they are nothing but a
group which blows with all winds, or, even better, the winds that blow towards money and power.
A belgicist bunch, however, if they have to pretend to be Flemish-nationalsit because of their own possible gain, they will not hesitate to do so.
I would not even be surprised if they one day, out of necessity, give themselves the status of true socialists.
Of course they will now follow every footstep N-VA puts down, they also think, just like N-VA, that new elections would not be a good idea (they know very well why they think so),
however, they smell positions and power should anything ever be realised, they smell the gratitude N-VA might bestow on them, and they also smell new electoral gain, after they, as mentioned before, have constantly blinded the people in their usual ways.
One thing has messed things up a little bit: look at the figure to the left (he is wearing the right colours, by the way, the white can serve as flagpole):
Our Felix (whether the last bit is "Cat" or "Clerck" makes not much difference, everyone knows who we mean (Felix De Clerck, of course, son of CD&V justice minister Stefaan De Clerck), so, we mean, "daddy's little boy"), who was one of the main organisers
of the protest we had last week, with which he goes straight against daddy's party (and his own party).
Of course, he doea not need to worry about whether his party will be grateful or not, first of all his name has been all over the media, and secondly, he is already sure of his future career,
because, smart or stupid, enough votes or not, daddy will make sure he ends up in the right place.
As you can see, an incredible mess.
And the Fleming? He stood by and watched it, or, he kept on paying.

More like him please.
On our media page you will find a new short film clip containing an interview with lawyer and former politician Vic Van Aelst.
It contains straightforward and hardlined statements (maybe a bit in favour of N-VA, but still straight to the point), in spite of the desperate attempts by the
presenter to try and interrupt or show up Mr. Van Aelst.
The clip can be seen here.

Appeal!
Maintaining this website takes a great deal of time and effort.
I do not have a problem with that, on the contrary, I am constantly trying to find new things which could be useful to our visitors.
I have, for example, added a forum to the site from the very beginning, so that people could have some interesting discussions there, or enter in a poll, or ask for the opinions of other members.
Doing this has cost me more than one sleepless night, but I notice the forum is hardly ever used, yet it is a place where you can vent your opinions and/or frustrations.
I have now started a topic about the event which took place in the KVS recently.
People who want take part in the discussions only have to click the 'Forum' link in the menu.
Remember: in order to take part in the discussions you have to be registered, this is free and takes but a few seconds, and you don't even have to register under your real name (unless, of course, you wish to do so), as you can register under a nickname.
Furthermore, your e-mailaddress is only required for the benefit of the moderators and the admin of the forum, nobody's data will be passed on to anyone else.
So, fancy a bit of a dispute? It is all there for you. All forum members only have to log in, and if you are new to the forum, please take a few seconds to register.
Thank you in advance,
The webmaster.

And here is the real one.
Below you can see the Vlaams Belang calendar, as given out by the party.
We mentioned that calendar a little while ago, as well as the commotion it caused.
I must admit I find it a job well done, and very appropriate:
22/01/2011
Why are they still using the "V"?
KVS has to refuse hundreds of Belgium fanatics.
Update Again, a beautiful headline in the newspapers.
Yes, of course the KVS with its 700 seats was full, there was a free event again, and how many personal invitations have changed hands?
By the way, why still KVS, and not KBS? (V=Vlaams=Flemish, B=Belgisch=Belgian)
What they have forgotten is, if culture had still been a Belgian authority, KVS would have ceased to exist long ago, it was exactly spltting that authority that saved KVS.
Also, culture now gets an annual 480 million euro, who from? Right, Flanders.
And then, that scum (as there were quite a few characters among them, as you will read later) would say "Not in our name"?
There was, obviously, a lot of media attention for the event, will that be the same for the Vlaams Nationaal Zangfeest (Flemish national Singing festival)?
What was "forgotten" in the media is that there was an action by Vlaams Belang Youngsters (pictured on the left), with the clear slogan "Handsomely paid by Flanders" on their banner.
What kind of characters were there, well, feminine fossils such as Will Ferdy, attention-seeking characters like Arno Hintjens, who often makes me feel ashamed to be an Ostender,
stutters like anything under normal circumstances, and sometimes goes in front of the cameras under influence of something (not always booze).
The man who used to refuse to speak anything but his Ostend dialect while on camera, but now he lives in Paris, his city (about which he used to say he loved it with all his heart) does not mean a thing to him anymore.
Also, of course, a whole bunch of francophone artists, and, let us not forget, left-wing TV fossil Geert Van Istendael.
In other words, a beautiful collection.
I would like to ask, if it is not in their name anyway, who pays for the expenses of the heating and the lighting of the theatre, the publicity, the printing, the limos for the VIPS and all other expenses?
Not the Flanders they hate so much, I hope?
Sometimes I feel ashamed being an artist myself, would they not do better to ask the beloved Belgium for their subsidies and keep their hands out of the pockt of 'fascist Flanders'?
Nationalism, no way, according to that gang of mostly unknown subjects, except for Belgian nationalism.
Remember these 'artists' when you are in a CD shop or bookshop or another place where they sell 'art'.
Also think twice before buying tickets for concerts of certain 'artists'.

Why is it not working?
N-VA want to make Brussels doctors and nurses speak Dutch.
N-VA are handing in a motion which obliges doctors and othe workers in the health sector to know the language of the region where they work. The motionshould achieve that doctors and paramedics in Brussels
are bilingual, thus writes "La Libre Belgique". PS-MP Yvan Mayeur is not behind the N-VA-motion and mentions provocation. (I wonder why?)
The MP also thinks that the N-VA-motion has not got a lot of chances to get support from the other parties.(Yes, like Groen! and sp.a behave towards their own people at the moment, that is quite possible).
Reactions
What bothers me most of all is the way some people react against the articles in the press.
According to some of those people, Flemings should not demand services in their own language in the constitutionally bilingual Brussels,
but it would only be normal that Flemish medical staff help francophones in their own language, even in Flanders.
According to some of them (yes, even Flemings), we would not even be welcome at all in Brussels', fine by me, but let them get by without Flemish money too.
Not too much praise
I would also not add too many feathers to the N-VA cap, now they hand in a motion, but that is nothing new.
These things have already been said for many years, and not just by N-VA, except that some of those motions used to be voted out, and used to be sneered at as being 'fascist', yes, even by N-VA.
Feathers on the cap
It is by no means the first mistake by N-VA, a mistake to add feathers to their cap by taking people in, so they can do consession after consession in the mean time.
N-VA triumphantly exclaimed they had strictened the naturalisation criteria and that the Fast belgian law is now a thing of the past, while nothing could be further from the truth.
On our media page, we added a film clip which reveals those empty words: have a look here.
15/01/2011
They smell power.
Charles Michel wants to dump N-VA.

They have not even taken part in the negotiations, but the names of their respective Flemish and Walloon parties were mentioned
regarding a possibility of participation, and they think they are the masters already.
Charles Michel (MR, pictured) would very much like the liberals to be involved in the negotiations about the state reform. Also Open Vld show an interest in that. Michel, however, has a very specific wish: that N-VA, de biggest party in Flanders, would no longer take part.
Karel De Gucht (Open Vld) took a similar stanceyesterday, but that is not supported by the Open Vld-top.
According to Michel, an agreement is (of course) impossible (I wonder why), and removing N-VA would bring "respect into
the negotiations instead of insults".
Keep the best till last
Then, that man even has the cheek to say that, according to him, already large francophone concessions have been done,
"some of which are totally unacceptable in my eyes".
I am really curious to see those concessions, as I know nothing, but not a single thing about their existence.
15/01/2011
Is it not bad enough?
Favourite left-wing voters are once again above the (Dewitte's) law.

The bad news is that Marie-Rose Morel (pictured) and her new husband Frank Vanhecke have returned from Austria
empty-handed.
They had hoped to have an ultimate cancer therapy in Austria for Marie-Rose, but they were told Marie-Rose had weakened far too much to
be able to get that therapy.
This, in itself, is bad enough.
Almighty
What makes it even worse: on the Facebook profile of Sharia4belgium you could find the following:
"Alhamdoelillah, All praise to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, Who lets Marie Rose Morel suffer before her death and Who will give her, after that, inshaallah, a severe punishment in the fires of Hell! Allah the Almighty has, because of her campaign against the islam and the muslims, forced her to wear a head scarf, although she is so strongly against that"
First of all very nasty to laugh at someone's illness and misery, secondly a pure example of racism and discrimination,
discrimination based upon religion (put judgements on someone who is not muslim).
Measures
The best thing our readers can do for the time being is to go to the Facebook page in question (it is here), and to click onp "Report" at the bottom left, to report the page to Facebook, hoping Facebook will do what has to be done.
(I have already taken that step).
It would also be good to bombard the racist centre of Jozef Dewitte with complaints, which can be done via the complaints form on their website here.
In th emean time, some muslims have tried to save a bit of face by "distantiating themselves" from the quotes by Sharia4belgium,
and by claiming such things give muslims a bad name, but, they still have to add that the
press has got it wrong one way or another.
You will undoubtedly remember that Vlaams Blok were convicted for a lot less than that, and that Frank Vanhecke had his immunity
taken away for far less than that, as a matter of fact, for facts he had nothing to do with?
Now, of course, CGKR (*) remain deaf for the complaints.
Also, I have not seen any mention of this incident on any news channel.
(*)CGKR= Centrum voor Gelijke Kansen en Racismebestrijding (Centre for equal opportunities and for fighting racism, lead by Jozef Dewitte.

DEFINITELY in my name!
After a number of initiatives to stop the deadlock started during the last few days, now a group of artists want to be in the spotlight too. Calling it 'Not in our name' they organise a protest event on Friday January 21st, this will take place in KVS (the Flemish Theatre in Brussels), and goes, in the first place, against nationalism. Stef Kamil Carlens, Maaike Neuville en Stefan Hertmans are some of the people who take part.
Progressive
I thought most artists (except me, that is) loved to associate themselves with the left-progressives?
Then, why are they always conservative when it comes to burying that fossil called Belgium?
Double sided knife
Just like the Walloon misses, after not winning any prizes in Miss Belgium, have no longer an issue if this country would be split in half (as long as there is a profit in it, they are always 'good Belgians', but, if not...).
The same with those artists, who seem to forget which percentage of their subsidies comes from the Flemish authorities instead of from the Belgian one.
And, at the risk of repeating myself, and to make sure I do not get blacklisted: I myself am indeed an artist too, but I hate that generalisation. I do not wish to be associated with something like this, and if it is not in their name, it certainly is in mine.
Split this country as soon as possible.
If you wish, you can check here to see the nonsense they write.

Flemings: do not get ill!
These days, it is a taboo for the Flemings to get ill, have a fire, accident or any other emergency.
A man from Riemst (Limburg), experienced this once again when he got to speak to a francophone first and then to a German speaker while calling the emergency number 100. Major Vos thinks this is unacceptable, especially since minister Annemie Turtelboom (Open VLD) had recently announced she was going to deal with the linguistic problems in the dispatching services.
Five years ago, also in Riemst, a lady died after her emergency call had first gone to a francophone employee at the 100-central of Liege.
Also last week, several important minutes were wasted before the man was connected to Hasselt and could speak to someone who did speak Dutch.
How much longer are we going to take this?

Dear friends,
On the Radio 1 website you can vote via this link for the split of Belgium. Please do not forget to do so.
The temporary result is quite nice to see.

What is next?
while, an hour later, it was Elio Di Rupo's (PS)
turn, and, as mentioned earlier, Johan Vande Lanotte (sp.a) finished the parade at 5 pm.
What has been achieved?
To begin with, Vande Lanotte carries on as royal mediator, his resignation was not accepted, he has to keep running on the spot.
Furthermore, the three aforementioned gentlemen were given the task to find a solution for the deadlock together.
Goodness know what has been said in Laken, behind closed doors.
Quotes
In the mean time, we have had some remarkable quotes:
Pieter Marechal (president of CD&V-youth): he appeals in De Morgen to the people of his generation to take to the streets against the deadlock, while he is being strict for the leaders of his own party. (We know what that is like in the case of CD&V'ers).
Bart De Wever (N-VA): he mentioned things should not take too long, or it would be better to just give up.
I am really curious which one of the two will turn their words into deeds, if any.
11/01/2011
Always sad when that happens
Last night, royal mediator Johan Vande Lanotte's (sp.a) mother has died.
Vande Lanotte had already delayed his task a few days when his mother got ill not long ago and he wanted (understandably) to be with her.
In spite of his loss, the mediator is still expected to appear at the royal palace in Laken at 5 pm.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to Johan Vande Lanotte and his family.

Whatever next?
King asks Yves Leterme to prepare budget
The strangest things happen in life, or else they don't know what to do anymore in the royal palace.
The king has put Yves Leterme (CD&V), in charge of preparing the budget, in spite of all the incompetence he showed 4 years ago.
Leterme even thinks "this is exceptional" and also states "to be concerned about the population's tax money (now, THAT is exceptional).
Open VLD are not supporting this for the time being.
Normally, making and balancing a budget should be the job of a new government.
No wonder
Last weekend there were talks of letting the resigning government make up the budget, with support from N-VA. Bart De Wever's party showed yesterday not to be unwilling to do so.
To be quite honest, i don't think we are in much need for an emergency government.

They just cannot let go.
Halle upset about bilingual adverts in brochure
The town of Halle are upset because of the printing of bilingual adverts in the latest Vondelkrant, the seasonal brochure of their own municipal cultural centre 't Vondel. "This violates the linguistic law. The governing law states that communication is to happen in Dutch only", says the town council in a public notice.
According to the council, from their own internal enquiry they found that the cause for this violation of the linguistic law must be sought with the media group Adrem, responsible for publicity recruitment in the brochure. The council want to investigate thoroughly which measures it can take against that firm in order to prevent a repeat of such occurences. (belga/ka)

Let her have a bit of final happiness.
Marie-Rose Morel and Frank Vanhecke got married in all intimacy
In Bruges, Marie-Rose Morel and Frank Vanhecke (pictured) got married very intimately on Saturday.
Marie_Rose Morel was told she might only have a number of weeks to live.
With this marriage, she wants to protect her legacy and to insure her children's legal protection,
"and maybe I am allowed to say this too: I love my groom", she says.
I will not spend too many words on this, as, in the past, the press has blown things up enough, and thrown enough mud around.
I hereby want to congratulate the couple, and hopefully the doctors are wrong, or who knows, we might expect a small miracle.
A video clip, very touching at times, you will find here.

Funny action.
Vlaams Belang distributes 'Wild Benefactor'
In Ghent, members of Vlaams Belang distributed their calendars during the New Years' reception by the council on Sunday.
It concerns a political satirical cartoon, made after the model of the "Suske en Wiske" comic strip 'De wilde weldoener (The Wild Benefactor)' (pictured).
On the cartoon, Suske en Wiske anxiously look at mayor Daniel Termont (sp.a), who generously throws coins from a helicopter.
Those coins are eagerly grabbed by veil wearing and coloured comic book figures.
The message by Vlaams Belang regarding the generosity by the Ghent council (and many others too, of course) is
loud and clear and needs no further comment, I am inclined to think.
As was to be expected, WPG Publishers have already distantiaited themselves from the calendar.
More actions like this, I would say.
10/01/2011
Notice and a question.
Please do vote in the poll, so I would know if there is enough interest, otherwise it would be a waste of time to start the quiz.
It would be a fun, interesting weekly quiz about Flanders with which no prizes can be won (yet), just a certificate for the champion,
but that could change (after the test project) in the future.
Thank you for your input.

Your fault, no, your fault...
This update comes a bit late, we do apologise.
Het Laatste Nieuws writes: 'Di Rupo: "Ball is in the court of the Flemish parties"'
Elio Di Rupo (PS, pictured), remarked today that a two thirds majority is needed for a state reform, thus sweeping
Bart De Wever's (N-VA) request to force a break-through together, off the table.
He continues (and what he says is true, however...) "that N-VA and PS do not posess such a majority between them in order to achieve institutional reforms".
Acceptable propositions
"The ball is now in the court of the Flemish parties", stated the PS-president. The day after he opened a door for the
liberals, Di Rupo reminded everyone he is open for any proposition. (sic) But "It is now up to the Flemish parties
to put concrete propositions on the table which are acceptable for the francophone civilians". (resic)
Hard working martyrs
Di Rupo wants CD&V en N-VA to say what they really want.
Together with that, he wants propositions which are acceptable for the francophone population. (Very easy, I think, always saying "NON",
not accepting a single proposition and then demanding the other side always shows their goodwill..
He also concludes beautifully:
PS, together with cdH and Ecolo, have done a lot of hard work for six months, almost day and night, with substantial progress as a result.
I really wonder where we can see that progress.
Or does he mean the fact that they are getting closer and closer to getting the Flemings to their knees?
Film
On our media page there is a new video clip taken from the VTM news.
A, once again, very one sided report about a survey that was conducted (no mention of among how many people), and where the unity is once again very touching:
de eenheid er weer afdruipt: a split must not be mentioned, and new elections are a complete no go area.
But, once again, that is VTM's usual objectivity.
You can watch the film clip here.
06/01/2011
And then there were none.
If Johan Vande Lanotte (spa.a, pictured) acts like a new Ernest Hemingway, by throwing proverbs around, why would I not allowed to be a bit literary?
The latter went to the Royal Palace at 4.30 pm to report to our Albert, and also to ask the allowancegrabber to relieve him from his task as mediator.
The reply to this request is still being considered.
In the Senate, Vande Lanotte summarised the failing of his mission in an odl English proverb: "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink."
Plug pulled
CD&V and N-VA had strong objections against the proposal of the sp.a'er who, while those aforementioned parties pulled the plug, came to certain conclusions.
According to Caroline Gennez (sp.a) both parties are "afraid of their own shadow", with which she really hid the fact that her party leader had thrown in the towel.
(Lately, the socialists are beginning to act like real poets in their choice of words, maybe they are planning a new careere as a literary club when they don't make the electoral minimum anymore?).
Watch out, however, do not be blinded by the 'stubbornness' of CD&V, theyhave to regain lots of 'lost souls', souls that had flown towards N-VA, among others, and (while we are throwing proverbs around)
because of 'the cat getting the cream' (meaning: because of possible votes, CD&V acts more radical Flemish now).
Also N-VA, of course, they are getting brownie points by appearing to stubbornly stick to their guns, but it is a lot easier now to keep up appearances:
in Bart De Wever's proposal (a few months ago), which was immediately thrashed by the francophones, he had already weakened all Flemish demands a lot, now De Wever can say "the Flemings can never agree to such feeble demands" (although he would probably say it in Latin).
Division
Within CD&V, lots of division has arisen regarding the party's decision, and president Wouter Beke is under fire from some groups of his party.
I already mentioned the (alterior) motives of Beke and his clan, because, afterwards, he heals the wound a bit by saying "mediator Vande Lanotte must absolutely carry on his work, he must only adjust his proposal slightly".
Going around the table with the seven parties, now there are so many objections, would be "telling the people fairy tales", according to Beke.
That is really the JOKE OF THE CENTURY, hearing this out of the mouth of a CD&V'er
His colleague Rik Torfs also did a bit of healing by announcing "We are not blowing up the negotiations", while fossil Mark Eyskens (Former Prime Minister, CD&V) praised the mediator, listen to this:
"Vande Lanotte has done an incredible job", flattered Eyskens. Eyskens praised the "very substantial accomodation of Flemish laments" in the mediator's proposal.
Even Stefaan De Clerck's daughter, majoress in Wevelgem, stated to be "disappointed in her own party".
She will probably be called to order by daddy, and tomorrow or the day after we will most probably read a variation on her words.
Also the CD&V trade union, ACV, declares "to be bewildered by the deadlock" (yes, Belgium must stay alive according to this group of "democrats").
Our neighbours from the south
According to Didier Reynders (MR) the "political situation is a fine mess", don't forget, he did not take part in the negotiations, and certainly now when Elio Di Rupo(PS) opens the door for the liberals, he will not have a lot
of good to say about the way things have been going so far.
That was roughly the situation in a nutshell (not without a lot of sarcasm, and certainly malicious pleasure, I know), we will keep you informed about further developments.

Sad news.
Marie-Rose Morel, who was told six months ago her cancer is terminal, is considering
euthanasia.
She claims never to have taken the stance against euthanasia, unlike her former party Vlaams Belang.
I certainly do not wish to turn this into a political issue, things ar sad enough as they are.
Morel says only to consider ending her life if there is really no way back , or if she is suffering unbearable pains.
However, in the latter case, if there is so much as a little spark of hope to survive she will go through all the suffering to try and get cured after all.
All we can say is that Marie-Rose is a brave, strong lady, en we do really hope that something could still happen to let her at least enjoy some more years of life
with her two innocent children.
05/01/2011
Typical N-VA again.
Jan Anciaux, Bert's brother, is joining N-VA.
"The move is remarkable. N-VA started its existence from the group which, when Volksunie (VU) fell apart, opposed the line of the then VU-leader Bert Anciaux", thus writes "Het Laatste Nieuws".
Well, nothing to be very surprised about, just like his brother, Jan has changed colours a few times, from VU-ID to the cartel sp.a-Spirit-Groen!, to
independent candidate.
N-VA does tnd to take on left-wing people, look at, a few months ago, Siegfried Bracke, who claimed that
N-VA was a left-wing party, and, who knows, he might be right too, if we see that N-VA will make cartels with the socialists in some towns.
05/01/2011
The document.
The fact that Groen! would side with the socialists is certainly no wonder.
They were the first to approve Vande Lanotte's proposal, however, they want a bit more: they want the negotiations to go on, but with Vande Lanotte
leading the negotiations.
Or, how the left wing stick together like a bunch of mussels.
Groen! also think that not all points in the proposal totally agree with their principles and demands, but that is what compromises are for.
Socialists
Sp.a giving a big "yes" to the proposals is no surprise, they can hardly oppose their leader, and, who know what positions the negotiations can bestow upon the pary.
N-VA
N-VA had a meeting yesterday to analyse the text thoroughly.
Later today, the party will reveal their decision, yes, maybe they want to hear first what the others say, so it becomes easier to choose sides.
Nothing new here
It will come as no surprise that MR the proposal is "too Flemish".
Especially the points concerning BHV and Brussels are very heavy on their stomach.
It has been known for a long time that this party wants it all and that they even begrudge Flanders the crumbs off the table.
Francophones in general
During the time before the meetings of the party bureaus, the francophone parties PS, cdH and Ecolo vry discreetly discuss the proposals of royal mediator Johan Vande Lanotte.
They too will make their official decision known later on today.
04/01/2011
More bad news.
According to Le Soir the Flemish character of the Flemish border communities would continue to decrease.
Not so much under demografic pressure by the francophones, but because of foreign new inhabitants.
Based upon the most recent figures by the Flemish authorities, the francophone paper points out that, in the period between 2005 and 2008 the number of foreigners has only decreased in two out of the nineteen communities (Hoeilaart and Sint-Genesius-Rode).
The strongest increases - up to 40.5 per cent - were measured in Merchtem, Asse, Dilbeek, Grimbergen, Meise and Machelen. However, in the facility communities Kraainem and Wezembeek-Oppem and in Tervuren and Overijse the foreign presence is the highest (more than a fifth of the population).
Between Januari 2009 and the end of June 2010 the border registered 14.596 newcomers, Belgians as well as foreigners.
Would it not be time we started having a closer look at certain things?
If not, we might end up totally empty handed.
04/01/2011
The work of VDL.
Financial experts are examining the report at the moment, and there was a delay in the translation into French, a translation which was done in the south of France, it even had to
be finished in an internet cafe.
Quick, quicker, quickest
It looks like things cannot go fast enough now, as the parties have been given until tomorrow to declare the document suitable or unsuitable to base further negotiations upon it.
(However, Vande Lanotte himself had 2 full months to coplete the "huge document" (60 pages), which included time off to visit his sick mother
and sick leave for Vande Lanotte himself, no doubt he will have made good money with doing the job).
About the document itself:
"Het Laatste Nieuws" wrote the headline: "Limited compensations for split B-H-V in document".
In my humble opinion, this is a great start, as NO COMPENSATION WHATSOEVER should be linked to the split ofBHV, the constitution has to be executed.
What would the changes be? The francophones would be given a choice to vote either in Brussels or in their own town, they would also have to reveal their choice of language every 3 years
(a weakening of the circular-Peeters), and the nomination of the majors in the facility towns remains a Flemish authority, but in case of disagreement, the Constitutional Court becomes authorised.
(The francophones would never disagree on something like that, remember, they will always nicely accept the Flemings' decisions, talk about a (wide open) back entrance.
Further points
Vande Lanotte proposes that 26 per cent of the personal taxes would go to the regions, which would mean
about 15 billion Euros worth of fully owned taxes with the own charges for all regions. (Once again it is going to cost us dearly).
Brussels would get an allowance of 15 per cent of the regional taxes to compensate the cost of the commuters
and furthermore, the city would be guaranteed a compensation for the presence of the international bureaucrats.
(Brussels once again gets something handed on a silver platter again, monies which simply have to be transferred from the regions).
Own pocket first
There will also be joined elections (Regional and Federal) every 5 years, hence, if the federal government dissolves withinthat time, does that mean the Flemish government has to dissolve with it, or what?
Also, 5 years, in doing so he gives politicians a chance to earn money for an extra year and to let them have ful pension after functioning for that one legislation.
There will also be a sort of half solution for something that often divided the parties: the abolishment of the Senate.
The Senate would indeed be abolished, but would be turned into a sort of meeting place for the regions and the communities.
Also, for Brussels, it would mean ther would be something like a miniature state reforn: there would no longer be a governor, but more authorities would go to the minister-president,
among them powers over safety and security (we can't wait to see it, in this already so safe city).
Could not be any more vague
In the transfer of powers, there is a mention of the transfer of the ruling of employment opportunity, labour market and
sanctioning, also of powers in the health sector worth 3.3 billion euros, and of the child benefit.
There would be regional Justice ministers with limited authority and the right of youth sanctioning would be transferred.
Limited authorities, transferred from where to where?
I think that, if those proposals do get authorisation, we will have been taken in good and proper again.

Best wishes
Vlaanderen-Flanders wants to wish all its visitors a very happy and prosperous 2011.
The best thing we could wish for you is good health, but let's also hope the political amateurism stops in the new year, and hope we come to a satisfactory solution,
which should really be no less than an independent Flanders.
A big thank you to the loyal visitors, and also, please be a bit patient with me, as it might take a few days to get used to the new date format.
Keep strong,
The webmaster.
