"Climate protest" in Kortrijk.
According to a video, sent in by list leader of Vlaams Belang in Kortrijk, Wouter Vermeersch, there was an incredible influx of "climate protesters" in his town today.

Don't forget to notice the average age of the participants.
There is a school holiday this week, so truancy is out of the question, which explains.....
It is with pleasure that I share Wouter's video with you:

Joke Schauvliege replaces Peter Van Rompuy as first vice-president Flemish Parliament

Former CD&V-minister Joke Schauvliege replaces Peter Van Rompuy as first vice-president of the Flemish Parliament.

Van Rompuy himself was appointed as fraction leader of the CD&V-fraction last week where he replaces Koen Van den Heuvel. The latter became Flemish minister last week, succeeding Joke Schauvliege, who resigned after controversial statements about the climate marches.

Some final thoughts:
There was absolutely no doubt that CD&V was not going to let one of her protegees down.
Just like I made, in the previous article about Joke Schauvliege, the comparison with Marianne Thyssen, this has come true as well.
Given the fact that CD&V (and with them N-VA too) are the champions in handing uit lucrative positions and keeping them in the family it was more than obvious that the "weeping ministe" would get something in her pocket very quickly.
We just have to wait now to find out what other fat positions with multinationals will be added to that.

Emotional Schauvliege resigns as minister

A very emotional Joke Schauvliege (CD&V) resigns as minister after the climate speech about ‘a plot theory’.
Joke Schauvliege has spoken herself at a press conference to announce her resignation as minister aan te kondigen, after words of support by Wouter Beke.

Beke, as well as Schauvliege and minister Hilde Crevits spoke about an attack on the person Schauvliege during the past weeks. Schauvliege: 'During the past week I have received thousands of mails and SMS messages on my iphone. I could not conduct any normal communication anymore, I could no longer communicate with my own family (voice breaks).'

Schauvliege refers to a campaign by Act for Climate Justice. That group convoked climate activists to text and send mails to the four climate ministers of our country. To that aim the personal mobile numbers of the ministers were released. Not their private numbers, but the mobile number they use as ministers.

According to Beke the polarisation is complete now, and it 'must dat stop now'. Schauvliege herself emphasises she has always tried to reconcile. 'I have tried to bring nature and agriculture together, ecology, economy and climate, and my goal was to invest investeren in prosperity.'

About the speech all this is about, Schauvliege said: 'I have taken a non checked message at face value. I have apologised, but the continuous criticism just kept coming.' The CD&V politiciansaid in that speech that the State Security had confirmed to her there was a clear organisation behind the climate marches. Something which later turned out not to be correct.

Joke Schauvliege
Climate debate should not revolve around my person and therefore I am taking a step which has to bring the serenity and the reasonableness back.

No successor has been announced yet. Schauvliege will be on top of the East-Flemish list for the Flemish Parliament at the elections in May.

Some final thoughts:
-They shouldn't use 'polarisation' as an argument, nor should they put the blame on someone else, it is a blunder in a row of many during Joke Schauvliege's entire career, and it is a well known fact that certain things can only go on for so long.
-Also, the 'minister' will not have to fear for her future, as, just like CD&V secured the equally incompetent Marianne Thyssen and her further income by giving her a job in the European Parliament some years ago, they will not let that lady down, because, as a real vote attractor she will lead the list again on May 26 2019, so, always job security.

What will CD&V do with Joke Schauvliege?

The Flemish CD&V-fraction (Christian-democrats) sat together this afternoon after statements made by climate minister Joke Schauvliege, who described the climate marches as "pre-planned games" and "put into scene. Schauvliege' fate is now in Beke's (the party president) hands, says the party.

The words were spoken during a speech for the Algemeen Boerensyndicaat (General Farmer's Syndicate) and she also claimed that her words were confirmed by the State Security, however, she retracted those words on Tuesday, saying she had had no contact with the State Security.

Not all her fellow party members are lenient for her: “How could you say such a thing?”, are the words of numerous CD&V MPs.
The party abstains from any further comments because they think this matter should be "cleared up internally".

Many opponents call for the minister's resignation, but whether or not this will happen is a decision which is in the hands of party president Wouter Beke.

“I have clearly made a mistake”, reacts Schauvliege in De ochtend on Radio 1. She also admits there were no contacts with the State Security about the climate marches, although she claimed the opposite. “But I do not have the feeling I have lied.”
She blames her words on fatigue (sic).
Wouter Beke, however, thinks it is noble she apologised. "That does not happen often in politics", he added.

Cordon broken? Leading man Vlaams Belang becomes president of Council commission

Surprising vote in political Evergem. There, the leading man of Vlaams Belang, Fernand Deliaert, becomes the president of the Council Commission.

The Council commission holds weekly meetings, one week ahead of the Council meeting.
They discuss the more technical aspect of the dossiers, so that the political points of view can follow a week later at the local council meeting.
In Evergem, it is a tradition that a member of the opposition becomes president of that commission.
Just before the vote, opposition party Sterk! withdrew their candidacy, while Groen had not nominated a candidate.
Both parties did this as a form of protest because, according to them, the opposition was not listened to enough.
Fernand Deliaert of Vlaams Belang was the only candidate left and hence got elected with the support of quite some members of the majority parties.

Only candidate

In the corridors, rumour went that the cordon in Evergem would now be broken.
The "cordon sanitaire" is the unwritten rule of the "democratic" parties never to work together with Vlaams Belang.
"The cordon sanitaire is not broken at all because of this", says mayor Joeri De Maertelaere (N-VA) of Evergem.
"If Groen or Sterk! had put a candidate forward, we would have supported that candidate. It is not as if he helps to build up the agenda, or takes part in determining the polkicies. Also in the Flemish Parliament there have been commissions that were presided by Vlaams Belang.
So, it is not unique in Flanders", continues the mayor.
(Article from "Het Laatste Nieuws" translated by the webmaster).

Some thoughts:

To begin with, the N-VA mayor has to be hypocritical again, as usual.
-Now that a member of Vlaams Belang was elected he tries to minimalise everything and he tries to justify why that candidate was elected and why his election does not really matter.
Are N-VA not the party who shout from the rooftops they are against the cordon???
(Nevertheless, they keep upholding it).

-The newspaper itself is at its best again, see the way in which they have to mention "democratic parties" again.

-They start the article with "Surprising vote" [...], but then they start minimalising everything themselves, in the same hypocritical way as N-VA.

Poor Flanders.

"Fifteen returned Syria fighters got social benefits in September 2015.
This was revealed in an answer by Kris Peeters to a written question by Barbara Pas.
At the same time, seven people who alledgedly had gone to Syria, also received benefits."

According to Pas, there is no place here for people who took part in the horrors in Syria, let alone they would be able to make claims on our social system.
Pas also demands that the many promises to remove the people in question off the register would turn to effective deeds.

When reading all this, you can get the following thoughts:
  • Why don't they just arrest and try those people and lock them up?
  • What to do with our own people, who have worked for years, and all of a sudden lose their job, our who all of a sudden cannot work anymore due to illness or disability?
Thank you, government.
